Northwest Illinois Audubon Society Annual Banquet

April 11, NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AUDUBON SOCIETY ANNUAL BANQUET. Embury United Methodist Church, 515 S. Galena Avenue, Freeport. 6 pm. The public is invited to enjoy this banquet featuring a feast of roasted locally grown turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, local corn and homemade desserts. The program will be presented by Pam Otto, manager of interpretive services for the St. Charles Park District. The title for Pam’s presentation is What’s Hoppening in Illinois? – Toads and Frogs. Pam will speak about the dual life cycles of amphibians in water and on land. Amphibians are important indicators of environmental health. But beyond that, they are just darn cool. Learn about the common and uncommon species you may encounter on outings to the great natural areas of northwest Illinois. A slide presentation with audio will be followed by Q&A and discussion. There will also be a silent auction with bidding from 5 pm to 6:45 pm and which will feature books, baked goods and more. Pre-registration by April 4 required.
