Small Town, Big Heroes Exhibition

Dates: Friday, January 27, 2017 - Saturday, April 1, 2017
Location:

January 27-April 1, SMALL TOWN, BIG HEROES EXHIBITION. Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem Avenue, Freeport. Tuesday thru Friday: 10 am to 5 pm; Saturday: Noon to 5 pm. This is an exhibition of photographic portraits, taken by Amy Dreibelbis Fairweather and Ben Fairweather of D + F Studio, of thirteen unsung heroes. The United Way of Northwest Illinois cast a net, searching for nominations featuring unsung heroes in Northwest Illinois. The projects mission was about unearthing and celebrating those people in our community that simply make a big difference in the lives and organizations they touch, on a day-to-day basis and sometimes without realizing it. It wasn’t necessarily about the known leaders, earth shakers or the outspoken ones, but rather a quest for those Heroes who do what they do and seldom ask for anything in return. Thirteen individuals were chosen as unsung heroes, and their portraits were displayed to help celebrate during the inaugural Tour de Freeport Bike Ride on September 24, 2016. These photographs are displayed with a quote that was distilled from each that best depicted the essence of their nomination. Exhibition is located on second floor which is not wheelchair accessible. Free, but donations appreciated. (815-235-9755)
