August 1, CRUISE NIGHT. Downtown Freeport. 4 pm to 10 pm. Join in an old-fashioned cruise through downtown, sponsored by J.H. Barkau & Sons. There will be live music by The Old 57’s on the FHN Stage, the Baumgartner Automotive food court offering a variety of tasty choices, and two contests: the Gary’s Collision & Customs Muffler Rapping Contest , and the Dan’s Route 66 Service Burn Out Contest.  There will be the Pearson Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Pest Control Antique Car Lot (by invitation only), Skinner’s Hot Rod Alley (by invitation only), a Motorcycle parking area (sponsored by A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois, Freeport Chapter), two main parking lots, the Jiffy Lube West Lot and the Tailor Made Autoworks East Lot, for the classic cars, and cruising all night long. In addition, downtown restaurants PJ’s Stephenson Street Station, and the Union Dairy. PJ’s will also offer live music from 8 pm to Midnight plus they will have a pulled pork sandwich meal from 11 am until 8 pm. Souvenir t-shirts and 50/50 raffle tickets will be available at the Information Booth at the intersection of Exchange and Chicago. Spectator parking is available on streets and in parking lots outside of the Cruise Route. Handicapped spectator parking is available on Main Street in the designated area. September 22, FALL FRENZY. Aquin High School, 1419 S. Galena Avenue, Freeport. 8:30 am to 10 pm. Enjoy this special day with fun events for all ages. Enjoy a 4 mile walk-a-thon across Freeport enjoying the beauty of fall, starting on the west side of town at St. Thomas Church, 1400 Kiwanis Drive, and ending on the east side of Freeport at Aquin High School. Register online or at 8:30 am on the day of the event.  Registration includes lunch at the end of the walk. The walk begins at 9 am. The fall carnival will be from 11 am to 2 pm and will include kids carnival games (unlimited games for $5), a Bean Bag Tourney ($40/team), NFL Punt Pass and Kick contest (free!) and concessions. Register online for the bean-bag tourney and the NFL PPK. From 6 pm to 10 pm, enjoy a night of casual fall fun and great food just for adults. It includes a hog roast, silent auction, cash bar, and musical entertainment ($20 per person or $30 per couple). Also enter your famous chili into the chili cook-off to win a cash prize or just be a judge and sample all the delicious chili for $5 per person.
