Set in a Long Island mansion, a pious, God-fearing business tycoon named Joe Benjamin meets a messenger of God, who tries to tempt Joe into renouncing God. When Joe’s faith remains steadfast, he is visited by a horrible array of afflictions. Meanwhile, his family and servants display a variety of reactions to the plagues and problems. Audiences will meet Rose (Joe’s high-maintenance wife), David (a prodigal son), Ben and Sarah (a pair of eccentric twins), Mady (the wisecracking maid), and Morris, (the sarcastic butler). February 15, CHILDREN OF UGANDA: TOUR OF LIGHT 2012. Jeannette Lloyd Theatre, 701 W. Empire Street, Freeport. 7 pm. Twenty children, ages 8 to 18, will perform traditional Ugandan songs and dances which tell many stories of Uganda’s history and vibrant culture. Clad in multi-colored costumes, the children will play authentic African instruments at their performance. January 19, FREEPORT HIGH SCHOOL BAND 99TH ANNUAL CONCERT. Jeannette Lloyd Theatre, 701 W. Empire Street, Freeport. 7:30 pm. The FHS Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Nick Martin, and the Symphonic Band, under the baton of Mr. Bill Petersen, will present this 99th Annual Concert. Guest artist will be Mr. Matt Eaton, percussionist, who will perform solos on both snare drum and marimba. The bands will play concert marches from several nations and in a variety of styles. A featured composer at the concert will be Dr. David Holsinger, the leading living wind band composer for school music today.
